Judith HaLevy: 1st Life - Taos Educator, 2nd Life - Malibu Rabbi

Rabbi HaLevy at work on the beach!

Rabbi Judith HaLevy left home at 18.  She's lived abroad, had two children, taught language at Taos High School and was director of the Arts Association there while serving on the Board of the National Endowment for the Arts.

But because Rabbi HaLevy wanted to strengthen her religious beliefs and share that passion with the community in Taos that she loved so much, she began her rabbinical studies at the age of 50. When she became a rabbi, she quickly realized that to be a better one she would need a larger community. Today, Rabbi HaLevy is the spiritual leader of the Malibu Jewish Center & Synagogue and has served as President of the Board of Rabbis of Southern California. She's a frequent speaker at local events and has realized again that she can bring together a community no matter where she preaches.
